Savannah

Nicklaus Yoo

Our two souls groove to one love

To the wild rhythm of Savannah

Leaping like hungry young lions

Our revelry is free and ferocious

Peacock feathers behind our ears

Diamonds painted across our smiles

Cartwheeling through the daywind

We are thick flocks of butterflies

Nimble strong gentle wings

Our two souls groove to one love

To the wild rhythm of Savannah

Amidst chitter-chatter of meerkats

We brashly blow trumpets of joy

And bathe like hogs in the mud

Of clear ancient streams we drink

Eavesdropping with glee on the

Buzzing melodies of bee-bodies

Between orchids we dare not smell

Our two souls groove to one love

To the wild rhythm of Savannah

Join us, O savage ones of the All-herd!

Stretch the rays of sun beyond your fingers

High above the frostbitten mountains

Minutes below the firmament’s floor

Jealous blood hawks slowly circle

Like mad sharks of the heavy clouds

But we care as much as not at all

Our two souls groove to one love

To the wild rhythm of Savannah

The blue sky is brightest of all

Beaming brilliant on our dance

The unseen circle of Saharan spirits

Who sing of both pain and pleasure

Galloping perimeters of fire and water

Strongly now we cast off sickly sloth

And remember vigorous warm evenings

Our two souls groove to one love

To the wild rhythm of Savannah

Our two souls groove to one love

To the wild rhythm of Savannah

Our two souls groove to one love

To the wild rhythm of Savannah
