Rescue

Liahm Blank

I refuse to sink life's anchor

Near the shores of some tangible goal.

A feat beneath the passing feet

Leaves heavy hearts tired and dull.

Instead I'll set the unknown course

Of my fleet through fleeting flow.

On the waves of coral hope at last,

I'll help the shipwrecked row.

If I could stop the aching,

The breaking of a sea-torn heart,

If I could help just one lost sailor,

I would have done my part.

I'll spend my days a scavenger

Of the destitute on blackened beach.

I'll love and guide through receding tide

Whomever I may reach.
