Embers

Summer Sekula / 2D/3D ART

 On the Piece

“My piece depicts the life cycle of a phoenix: the perfect allegory for transformation and reinvention. Although the life of a phoenix may come to an end, the bird continues to be re-birthed from the embers and ashes of its predecessor. In this way, the phoenix represents the human need and desire to persevere and transform without always fully letting go of one’s past. The bird reinvents itself each cycle but continues to hold onto its past lives through each transformation.”
